MARATHON JOURNEY

I decided to put these two weeks together because while I kept track of my workout logs, I didn’t have anything written for them yet. To be completely transparent, I wasn’t feeling up to writing on my main blog or this marathon page. I needed a break. I required deep mental and emotional rest, and pouring myself into my writing takes a lot of energy.
But looking back now, I am so excited to share these two weeks together because the progress is undeniable! If you watch my TikToks, you already know I was making videos during these workouts, and you can see the absolute excitement on my face. I was super freaking excited—I was completely crushing it.
Here is how those two breakthrough weeks looked:
Week 15 (5/24 – 5/30)
Sunday & Monday: Rest.
Tuesday: Walked for 30 minutes at 3.2 mph (1.58 miles total).
Wednesday:
Intervals: Walk 4 mins, jog 9 mins, walk 4 mins, jog 3 mins, walk 2 mins, jog 3 mins, walk approx. 5 mins.
Pace: Walk at 3.0 mph / Jog at 4.2 mph.
Total: The treadmill emergency-stopped twice, so I didn't get the exact mileage, but it was definitely above 1.78 miles since I added two full minutes to my main jog! I also shaved 13 seconds off my mile time with this walk/jog structure.
Thursday: Rest.
Friday:
Intervals: Walk 3 mins, jog 10 mins, walk 3 mins, jog 3 mins, walk 3 mins, jog 3 mins, walk 4 mins.
Pace: Walk at 3.0 mph / Jog at 4.2 mph.
Total: 30 minutes | 1.82 miles. Shaved 25 seconds off my mile time by cutting my walk short by a minute and adding a minute to my jog!
Week 16 (5/31 – 6/6)
Sunday & Monday: Rest.
Tuesday: Walked for 30 minutes at 3.0 mph (1.49 miles total).
Wednesday:
Intervals: Walk 3 mins, jog 11 mins, walk 3 mins, jog 3 mins, walk 3 mins, jog 3 mins, walk 4 mins.
Pace: Walk at 3.0 mph / Jog at 4.2 mph.
Total: 30 minutes | 1.84 miles. (That’s 17 total minutes of jogging!) Hit a 15-minute and 35-second mile.
Thursday: Walked for 30 minutes at 3.0 mph (1.49 miles total).
Friday: Walked for 30 minutes at 3.0 mph (1.49 miles total).
Listening to My Body's Shift
After that Friday in Week 16, I had to take a forced break from running due to severe seasonal allergies. It got really bad—the post-nasal drip was no joke, and I was coughing constantly from all the mucus in my throat. I am still coughing a little bit right now, so I am continuing to pause my running routine until my lungs clear up.
In my next post, I will go into much more depth about how I navigate those pauses. But for now, I just want to celebrate what my body can do at 42 years old, and the incredible progress I can make simply by tuning out the noise and doing my own thing.
Remember to consult your doctor if you want to change your diet and/or exercise routine.
I love you.
This is love.
