MARATHON JOURNEY

This week, I decided not to have a strict plan for each day. While I am still making time to go run at the gym, what I actually do on the treadmill is a game-time decision. I like to get on and just see what my legs feel like doing.
Here is what this week brought me:
The Weekly Breakdown (5/10 – 5/16)
Sunday: Rest (but walked around the Lilac Festival! It was about 3 miles of walking this day).

Celebrating the Progress
I am so excited about my progress! This is a massive deal for me because I wasn't seeing much movement during the first 9 weeks. After taking a break, I have made the most progress thus far.
I don't force myself to go every day anymore; when I feel like resting, I rest. I have officially proven to myself that rest doesn't take away from my goals—in fact, it makes them even more attainable. I want to run so badly, and I am getting closer and closer to running continuously without the walking intervals.
Monday felt amazing, especially after all the walking I did at the Lilac Festival the day before. I am really feeling good about my running right now. I took a rest day on Tuesday because Sunday and Monday were heavy movement days, and my body explicitly said, “rest.”
The best part? I haven't been sore at all, which makes me feel even better, and my knees are still holding up great. I used to think my weight might make this process harder. While it's true that it will get easier as I weigh less, I am still incredibly impressed with what my body can do right now, in this exact moment.
I feel like I can run a marathon, even though I haven't run a straight, continuous mile yet! Stay tuned, and let's see what I accomplish next week.
Remember to consult your doctor if you plan on starting a new activity.
